Bollywood stars recount their recent travel escapades
Vidya Balan
Kerala is my current favourite as I recently went on a family holiday to the backwaters in Alappuzha. The lush green surrounding, fresh air,the spa indulgences and the scrumptious food made the trip a memorable one. We stayed at a local residence and that made us feel as if we were in our ancestral home. I love waterfronts and their untainted beauty. Despite commercialisation,it is refreshing. No wonder that Kerala is called Gods own country.
Zoya Akhtar
I am totally a beach person and Goa is,without doubt,my favourite holiday destination, followed by New York,London,Greece,Thailand,Italy and Barcelona. I just got back from Goa. The blue sea and the amazing food are still fresh in my memory. But I recurrently dream of visiting Cuba its a place frozen in time and I would like to go there before that changes. I like vacationing with friends, the kind that want to explore the sights, like to experiment with food or who like to shop but are not obsessed with it. They should have the capacity to lie down on a beach and do nothing for days. When Im travelling,I dont quite pick up the camera; Id rather be the muse. I do take pictures but am not dogged about documenting things.
Lara Dutta
I had a three-day break recently. So I booked my tickets from Bangkok to Siem Reap and went on an amazing all-girls holiday to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Ive been a history and culture student and Ive been fascinated by temples. I was delighted to see,in a land like Cambodias, the massive ancient structures that were built originally as Hindu temples. The Cambodian people, during the late 9th century, were very impressed by the Hindu gods and built Brahma,Vishnu and Shiva temples. It was the first time I visited a Brahma temple because we dont have many of those in India.
Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman
We usually prefer cooler places, like the mountains. My (Suman) favourite travel destination is Venice the city on water and she (Ranaut) loves South of France. Our last trip was to Phuket in Bangkok. I braved hydrophobia for this beach haven. We vividly remember the private beach we visited which, unlike Mumbais, was not crowded, had white sands and blue waters. The tranquility combined with the mesmerising sight was breathtaking.
Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladak
We recently went on a road trip in Europe for our honeymoon. We were originally supposed to visit Mexico but the plan fell through, following the civil strife. From Mumbai,we went to Barcelona,Paris,Capri,Venice,
Florence and, then London. The entire vacation was planned by Shakeel and it was fabulous.
