The Fishermen Association of Porbandar has urged Chief Minister Narendra Modi to extend financial support to those from the community whose boats have been seized by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency.

Manish Lodhari,Secretary of National Fishermen Forum said that two years ago,the Centre had devised a scheme for the fishermen and few of them have already received Rs 12 lakh each. A boat costs Rs 28-30 lakh and the Centre’s assistance is not enough,he said.

About 300 of the 490 boats from Saurashtra seized by PMSA are from Porbandar fishermen,Lodhari said.
