Fearing arrest,DySP moves HC for bail

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) R K Patel,who is among the 20 accused in the the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case,has moved the Gujarat High Court seeking anticipatory bail.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) R K Patel,who is among the 20 accused in the the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case,has moved the Gujarat High Court seeking anticipatory bail.

Patel is the first accused who has sought bail in the case in which the chargesheet was filed by the CBI last week.

Patel,posted as DySP (Sarkhej division) in Ahmedabad district,is on sick leave at present. He was the investigative officer in the encounter case while he was posted in CID (crime).

In his bail plea,Patel has stated he was anticipating arrest as he read his name as an accused in the newspapers.

On September 4,CBI filed the chargesheet in a court at Danta in Banaskantha district naming as accused 20 people,including former minister of state for home Amit Shah,former state police chief P C Pande,IPS officers O P Mathur,D G Vanzara and Geetha Johri.
