Raju had earlier failed to appear before the court following which the special court presided over by designated judge Jyotsana Yagnik had issued bailable warrant against him. Subsequently,he tendered an apology before the court after which it ordered him to depose on Monday.

As part of the CBI team,Raju had probed the authenticity of a set of CDs and DVDs made by a private news channel that purportedly captured on camera some of the accused in the riots cases confessing to their role in the 2002 communal violence.

CBI had conducted the probe on the orders of the National Human Rights Commission.
