‘Ex-gangster’ Abdul Wahab acquitted in firing case

Abdul Wahab,an alleged former gangster, was acquitted by a district judge on Saturday after the prosecution failed to prove their case.

Abdul Wahab,an alleged former gangster, was acquitted by a district judge on Saturday after the prosecution failed to prove their case. Wahab, reportedly a former aid of slain gangster Abdul Latif, was lodged in jail in connection with a firing incident last year.

Wahab’s lawyer Wajid Saiyed said that the prosecution failed to submit sufficient evidence against him in the court, leading to his acquittal.

In March last year,Nazir Vora,a resident of Juhapura, had lodged an FIR against Wahab at Vejalpur police station. Vora had stated that while he was standing outside his office near Sonal Cinema in Juhapura,Wahab came in a car and fired at him. According to Vora,Wahab had used a 9mm revolver and wanted to kill him. Subsequently, the Detection of Crime Branch,Ahmedabad, arrested Wahab. Recently,Vora had filed an application before the district judge stating that Wahab should not be brought in the court for the trial as the latter was a threat to his life.
