With A view to promote the sharing of knowledge related to data security and privacy protection among the IT units in the state,the Data Security of Council of India (DSCI) has decided to come up with an Ahmedabad chapter of the council.

DSCI is a not-for-profit organisation created to promote India as a secure destination for IT outsourcing.

It is promoted by NASSCOM,an Indian IT-BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) consortium. DSCI has eight chapters in major Indian cities like Mumbai,Delhi,Pune and Kolkata. The Ahmedabad chapter will be its ninth.

LK Pathak,a manager with Elitcore Technologies,a company dealing in security system,said: “DSCI will have a virtual office here. The objective of opening a chapter in Ahmedabad is to share knowledge about data protection,compliance,regulation,among others.”

He added: “It will also be instrumental in establishing a link between the government and industry,conducive for policy matters.”

Pathak further said that Ahmedabad being one of the major cities in India with a high population density and commercial activities,DSCI was interested in having a chapter here. The chapter will be inaugurated in Ahmedabad on March 17.
