Differently-abled women celebrate Raksha Bandhan with Gujarat CM

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, differently-abled women from Setu Trust in Vallabh Vidyanagar celebrated the festival with a special gesture, tying rakhis to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during an event held in Gandhinagar on Saturday. They also presented him with an eco-friendly Lord Ganesha idol made from cow dung and clay, under the Trust’s “Celebrate Festivals, Save the Environment” campaign .

The idol dissolves easily in water, promoting eco-conscious festivities, said the Trust members. The ceremony was attended by Setu Trust founder and secretary Sudhaben Patel, trustee Radhaben Patel, treasurer Chiragbhai Patel, and differently-abled students of the Trust. Setu Trust runs free hostels for visually impaired students, orphans, children of single parents, and those with differently-abled parents. The Trust also offers programmes in technology, sports, and music to help its members become self-reliant. The organisation also promotes Yoga, natural farming, women’s education, wildlife conservation, and the Fit India movement as part of its broader mission to build a better future, said the Trust members.
