Dawood aide Mammumiya admits to collecting RDX for 1993 blasts

Dawood Ibrahim henchman Umarmiyan Panjumiyan Bukhari,alias Mammumiya,has given the police a written confession describing how weapons and packets of RDX had been smuggled to Porbandar to set off the 1993 blasts in Mumbai.
The Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) has appended the confession to the chargesheet for the Radhika Gymkhana shootout case of 1992 and submitted it to the TADA court. The shootout had claimed nine lives.
Mammumiya is named an absconder in that case and the prime accused in another,involving a huge quantity of RDX that landed off the Gosabara coast in 1993.
These explosives are believed to have been used for the serial blasts in Mumbai later that year.
Mammumiyas confession says: In the second week of January 1993,Dawood Ibrahim through the Oddar coast sea route sent the material in Mustafa Majnu Al Sadabahar’s ship. It contained 225 silver bars,45 bags containing weapons and 30 boxes of powder,which I later came to know was RDX. I did the landing of all these through Iqbal Husain Saiyed and Yusuf Kutchi. All these were taken to Porbandar in three tempos,to one Iju Shaikh.
On March 12,1993,I was in London for treatment of my son when my sister-in-law called me up to say that a bomb blast had taken place in Mumbai and the police were looking for me. Therefore,instead of coming back to Mumbai I took a flight to Dubai. I met Anis (Dawood Ibrahims brother) through a common friend to get a residence visa in Dubai. And then met Abu Salem who told me that more weapons are required in Mumbai.
The statement also described how he started gold and silver smuggling and then graduated to weapons running. I joined Kharwa Naran Sudhas gang in Porbandar after my brother was killed. I left my studies and started working with local gambling dens. And then started landing of gold and silver between 1989 and 1992.
In August 1990,I sent a message to Latif (Gujarat underworld don,killed later in a shootout) informing that if he wants the stuff (gold) he can give me the money. He called me at his home in Dariapur. I took my vehicle and went to Ahmedabad. He gave me Rs 25 lakh in cash for getting gold jackets. I got four jackets each containing 100 gold biscuits.
During this period I also got in touch with one Haji Kasam who used to smuggle silver from Dubai. In 1991 August/September,Latif joined me in this business. Every month he used to get around 20 to 25 silver bars. For every trip he used to get around Rs 15 lakh. In 1991 December when I went to Dubai,Latif was staying at a Jumerha guest house. He introduced me to Dawood Ibrahim. He gave me his Dubai residence number and asked me to call whenever required.
During the same time Latif ,came to Porbandar and asked for two AK-47s. I gave him the required weapons. These were
later used to kill the nine people in the Radhika Gymkhana shootout, the confession says.
