Brazilian salsa dancers Sergio Souza and Fernando Dias insist nobody is too old to learn dancing. “All you have to do its move to the beats. It’s that simple,” says Souza,33,demonstrating a graceful pirouette. Souza and Dias are visiting Delhi to raise awareness about Surya Brasil’s,World Dance Festival being held at The Leela Kempinski in September.

The highlight of the four-day festival is a dance competition among 12 participating countries. “The festival also includes workshops, lessons and demonstrations of dance styles ranging from the Latin-American Capoeira,Forro and Axe to American moves like Hip-Hop,House and Street dance,” says Dias,21,a pro in classical ballet and Forro styles.

Souza and Dias, who will represent Brazil, held a salsa and samba performance earlier last week with members of the Delhi Salsa Club,in an effort to raise awareness about the festival.

They admitted that while youngsters would be interested in watching experts dance, workshops will be a bigger draw for those who want to perfect their steps. “We are planning to have 72 workshops for beginners. There will be internal competitions also,” says Fernando Drumond, one of the organizers of the festival. Workshops will include Punjabi and Bollywood dance styles also.

Souza is confident that four days is enough to learn dance. “The first step is to like the dance,” he explains.

The list of 15 performing artists and trainers includes names from India like salsa trainer Kaytee Namgyal and Kathak dancer Uma Sharma alongside international figures like ballerina Carla Lazazzera and Hip-Hop freestyle artist Henrique Bianchini.

The festival is between September 10-13. For reservations and tickets visit: http://www.worlddancefestival.com
