Sleuths investigating the case of the controversial doctor from Dhanpur village,Dr Bharat Jadav, whose police remand got over on Monday, said that they have not found any documentary evidence of the illegal practices.

The investigators said that during his five-day remand,Jadav did not utter a word in reply to the series of questions posed by the police. They added that five of local women, who have alleged that the doctor had aborted their babies without their consent, have identified

Jadav.

Speaking to Newsline,Investigator J P Sutariya said,”Jadav knows it well that a single confessional statement can land him in trouble. He can get severe punishment and that is why he did not give any confessional statement. We,however, are now banking heavily on the statements of the victims and the bones, which we had recovered from the septic tank of his clinic.”

Sutariya added that Jadav never gave any prescription to his patients.

“We thoroughly checked his clinic and also spoke to a number of his patients. Whenever any expecting mother used to visit him,he used to abort the babies by giving anaesthesia in the name of check-up. After the operation,Jadav used to inform her family members that it was necessary to abort the baby to save the mother. For these operations,he would charge anything between Rs 3,000 and 6,000. However,he never issued bills or receipts and also never maintained any register or record.”
