Couple found dead in apartment complex at Surat

The bodies of a couple were recovered from a closed flat in the Ved Road area on Saturday afternoon. The police say the victims,Sanjay Giri (30) and Sapna (25) were strangulated a few days ago.

Deputy Commissioner of Police M K Nayak said they have learnt that Sanjay was apparently running a brothel at his house,adding that more information will be gleaned during the investigations.

The police said the residents of Ravi Darshan apartment in Kuberpark Society found bad smell emanating from flat no 101 in the building. The main door of the flat was locked from the outside and the neighbours informed the police about it on Saturday afternoon.

The Katargam police rushed to the spot and broke open the door and found the couple lying dead on the bed. There were no injury marks on the bodies.

Officials from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) also rushed to the spot and took samples from the flat. The bodies were later sent to SMIMER Hospital for postmortem.

Nayak said: We are investigating the case. We have found that two were staying in the rented flat for the last 15 days. We have also found some evidence that the couple were from West Bengal. The accused are unidentified and the motive behind the murder is still a mystery. We suspect there might be more than two accused.
