During discussion on the resolution moved by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army for the success of Operation Sindoor, the Congress questioned what it called the “lapse of intelligence agencies” with regard to Pahalgam attack. The BJP ministers countered the Opposition by listing all the terrorist attacks in several cities when the Congress was in power.
The resolution was unanimously passed in the Legislative Assembly on the second day of the Monsoon Session on Tuesday.
“The good work should be appreciated but responsibility should also be taken for the security lapse under your nose,” Congress MLA from Danilimda constituency Shailesh Parmar stated during the discussion in the House.
“The question is that there is central IB information when there is a threat to life of a senior leader; so, why was there no input on Pahalgam attack? When Section 370 was abrogated from Jammu and Kashmir, it was claimed that ‘now, no violence will happen in the valley’…” Parmar said.
In response to these allegations, Ministers Jagdish Vishwakarma and Harsh Sanghavi, in their respective addresses, invoked previous terror attacks in the country.
Minister of State for Cooperation Vishwakarma said, “Out of 193 member countries of the United Nations, only three supported Pakistan while 190 were standing with India during Operation Sindoor… In 2005, Ram Temple in Ayodhya was attacked, the result was nil. In 2006, 187 were dead in Mumbai train bomb blasts, the result was nil. In 2006 Doda and Udhampur attacks, 36 dead, result zero… Hyderabad blast… 26/11 Mumbai attacks… 2008 Jaipur serial blasts… 2010 Pune German bakery blast… Where was CBI in all these times? All these attacks happened during the UPA-Congress’s government. The 140 crore people of the country want a reply.”
Vishwakarma’s stance was reiterated by other senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs.
“The Indian Army, under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave a befitting reply to the nefarious acts of anti-national elements by executing Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025,” said CM Bhupendra Patel as he moved the resolution.
He said that following the success of Operation Sindoor, 140 crore countrymen and many countries of the world have praised the capable leadership of PM Modi.
“Operation Sindoor, carried out by the Army, is not just a military action but a decisive and historic turn in the decades-long struggle against terrorism and Prime Minister’s zero tolerance policy against it,” Patel, the Leader of the House, said.
The CM said that the leadership of the PM has proved that if there is political will and sense of national security, any nefarious act against the country can be given a befitting reply.
“This Operation Sindoor has introduced the world to India’s changed ‘new normal’ approach… The intention of the terrorists was not only to kill innocent people; it was a deliberate attempt to plunge the country into violence and spread chaos. But, the PM had made up his mind to thwart this attempt. With full faith in the capability, courage and strength of the army, he gave it a free rein to uproot the perpetrators of these terrorist acts,” he added.
The brave soldiers took revenge for the April 22 terrorist attack in just 22 minutes, the CM stated. Due to the foresight and decisive power of Prime Minister Modi and the strategy of the armed forces, terrorist infrastructure was destroyed without the need to cross the Line of Control or the International Border.
Pointing out the “brilliant performance” of indigenous systems like Akash, the CM said that for the first time, the world saw the power of self-reliant India. “Made in India drones, Made in India missiles completely exposed Pakistan’s weapons. In India’s aggressive attacks, Pakistan’s Noor Khan and Rahimyar Khan air bases were targeted and completely destroyed. Not only this, Pakistan’s air defense system was bypassed and jammed,” the CM stated.
