Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on “Congress being an old party” has drawn sharp criticism from the state Congress leaders, who alleged that the Chief Minister was frustrated because of which he had no control over what he spoke.

While campaigning for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh,Chief Minister Narendra Modi had said that the Congress was “a 125-year-old-budhia party” (old party) and therefore could not work for the country’s development.

“People of Gujarat are known for their culture, which even teaches us to treat our enemies with respect. But unfortunately, the Chief Minister has lost control over what he speaks,” Opposition leader Shaktisinh Gohil said.

“Before making such ridiculous statements to gain cheap publicity, the Chief Minister should look at L K Advani, the BJP’s prime minister in waiting, who is 81,” Gohil said.

He said that such derogatory and disparaging remarks are only expected out of “uncultured persons like Modi” only.
