Salary hike for anganwadi workers

GANDHINAGAR: The state government on Thursday announced a hike in the salary of anganwadi and tedaghar workers (government-run creches) effective from April 1,2011 from Rs 2,500 per month to Rs 4,000 pm,and from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 respectively. There are 50,226 anganwadi and 48,641 tedeghar workers in the state.

I-T raids steel company

AHMEDABAD: The Income Tax department conducted raids on a steel company in Ahmedabad and an estate agent at Kadi on Thursday,and seized Rs 70 lakh. Besides raids on Jayesh Steel Private Limited on the C G Road and Mascot Infrastructure Private Limited,I-T sleuths conducted searches in jewellery shops in Manekchok and C G Road areas.

AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Thursday sealed more 187 properties in various zones of the city for not paying property tax. As many as 52 properties were sealed in the east zone,51 in west zone and 33 in south zone. The number of sealed porperties in central and north zones were 29 and 22 respectively.

22 more dengue cases

AHMEDABAD: Dengue cases in the city did not show any sign of decline on Thursday with 26 fresh cases being reported from various city hospitals run by the municipal corporation. While 13 cases were reported from V S Hospital,six were registered at the Civil Hospital,three at another hospital.
