MSU library ranks 15th in UGC list
VADODARA: The Hansa Mehta Library of Maharaja Sayajirao University has been ranked first in the state and 15th in the country by the Information and Library Network Centre run by the United Grants Commission.
Established in 1950,the library has for the first time stood 15th,followed by Sardar Patel University library at 38. According to the officials at the library,the UGC considered several parameters including quality of the library,collection of books,feedback from users and how it is utilised by students.
Surat mayor unveils projects
SURAT: Various projects were inaugurated by Surat Mayor Raju Desai on Friday. He inaugurated a garden and walkway in Varachha,and a bridge over creeks joining different areas in Puna and Simada areas. The projects included the Suez pumping station in Udhna zone with capacity of 18.32 MLD at Khatodara. Water distribution centres have been made in many newly added areas in Surat city like Bharathana Vesu,Bhimrad,Sarsana.
Environment quiz begins on DD today
Ahmedabad: In its fourth year,Srishti: The Environment Quiz will go on air on DD Girnar from Sunday at 6 p.m. Involving thousands of schoolchildren from Classes 8 and 9 across the state,the quiz is produced by Darpana Communications with support from the Ministry of Environment and Forests,Government of India. Mallika Sarabhai will conduct the quiz.
MoEF organises workshop
AHMEDABAD: A two-day biodiversity conservation workshop,a programme under the Ministry of Environment and Forests,for 485 NGOs from across Gujarat and Daman and Diu concluded in the city on Friday. Part of the National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) and hosted by the Centre for Environment Education,the workshop focused on the conservation of natural resources such as wetlands,medicinal herbs and plants.
