A book published by a Congress leader has come under the scanner of the district election office for possible violation of model code of conduct.

Police have recorded the statement of city Congress president Narendra Ravat who published the book titled ‘Chauthi Jagir Kare Chee,Modi Sarkar Na Daavao No Pardafas (Fourth Pillar Exposes Modi Government’s Claims).

Ravat said the book was released on July 5 and so it did not violate model code of conduct.

The 320-page book is a compilation of news stories that have mostly appeared in Gujarati newspapers over the past one year.

District electoral officials on Saturday visited the office of Amit Printers,which published the book,and collected a few copies for investigation. “We will see if the book publishes contents that violate any model code of conduct,” an election officer said.

The book is priced at Rs 40 and there is no mention of date of publication. It mentions Ravat as a member of MS University’s Senate.

“We have begun a probe into the matter,” Vadodara city election officer S P Muniya said.
