Former Union textile minister and veteran BJP leader Kashiram Rana’s son Vijay Rana openly supported Maha Gujarat Janata Party (MJP)’s candidate from Surat and former BJP veteran,Fakir Chauhan, when he went to file his nomination papers on Tuesday.

Kashiram Rana was not given a ticket this time from Surat constituency. Instead,Darshna Jardosh was chosen as BJP’s candidate.

Vijay Rana (36) was seen attending the procession taken out by the MJP to file nomination from Surat. This shocked many.

Vijay is a civil engineer by profession. Sources said that he was never seen in any political meeting even during his father’s campaigning earlier; but now, when his father has been sidelined,he appeared in the MJP rally.

“He (Vijay) is my friend’s son and I have known him right from the time he was born. He is a trustee in Sewa Pratisthan trust, which I run. For the last five days,he has been working for the MJP and has even shown interest in the party and my victory,” said Fakir Chauhan.

“I don’t know if he has joined the MJP,but he has good relations with Fakir Chauhan. He is mature and can take his own decisions. I don’t want to comment on that,” Kashiram Rana said.
