BJP MP,minister may get me killed,Cong MLA tells Guv

Kodinar Congress MLA Dhirsinh Barad has submitted a memorandum to Governor Kamla Beniwal, seeking security cover for him and his family while expressing fear of an “encounter” by the Junahadh district police allegedly at the behest of BJP MP Dinu Solanki and state Finance Minister Vaju Vala.

In the memorandum submitted to the Governor last week,Barad has also accused the district Superintendent of Police of threatening to fix him in a fake case, adding that he had been trying to expose Solanki’s “illegal activities” ever since he became MLA by winning the 2009 Kodinar by-election.

“For exposing illegal activities by the MP (Solanki),including illegal mining and land deals,Solanki has tried to fix me and my nephew Ranjitsinh in various fake cases like rioting, mineral theft and assault,” Barad alleged in the memorandum,a copy of which is with The Indian Express.

The MLA has expressed the fear that after he recently “exposed” in the Assembly “how Chetan Vala, son of the Finance Minister, got a land on fake documents”,both Solanki and Vala, who are in-laws,might get him killed in an encounter at the hands of Junagadh SP and Kodinar police.

Barad claimed that on April 10,Solanki went to the Kodinar police station and registered a complaint against Ranjitsinh of ‘threat to murder’.

He further alleged that on the same day around 11.30 pm,a police team raided his house and “behaved indecently” with women members of the family.

The memorandum further alleged that on that day,Barad was in Gandhinagar and when he called up the Junagadh SP and complaint about harassment by the local police, the SP threatened to name him in a fake case.

Alleging that politically motivated encounter is not new to the state,Barad has expressed fears that his family would be harassed at the instructions of political leaders. “I have to seek police protection as I am getting threats frequently from the opposition,” he wrote.

Barad has claimed that his frequent representations at Gandhinagar has slowed down “illegal mining by Solanki and his associates” in the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary.

According to the Congress MLA,after he raised the issue in the Assembly of an “illegal deal” of 255 acres land at Sarithia and Nagdala villages in Kodinar, allegedly involving Solanki, the latter had to cancel the deal.

Solanki could not be contacted despite repeated efforts.
