Amin camps Ajit Lele pressurised by rival Gaekwad group to withdraw
Express News Service
Vadodara,December 9
The two warring camps fighting the BCA election nearly had a face-off when a member of the Chirayu Amin camp,Ajit Lele, was allegedly pressurised by the rival Samarjitsinh Gaekwad camp to withdraw his candidature from the Managing Committee post that he is contesting.
Ajit, who is the son of Late Jaywant Lele, said he was cornered by members of the rival clan to bring the legacy of Jaywant Lele into their side. Ajit said,The fight is not about me. It is about my fathers legacy. The other side wants it to strengthen their own side, but the fact is that my father was with the Revival BCA group since many months before he passed away. He has attended their meetings and pledged support to this camp.
I was at the BCA office, when I was being pressurised by three members of the Gaekwad camp, he added. While Gaekwad was unavailable for comment,BCA secretary Sanjay Patel said,I am not aware if he met Samarjitsinh, but I do not believe he was pressurised to withdraw. They are obviously making false allegations. I was not at the BCA office today,so I do not know what happened.
Elections against BCA constitution
vadodara: The Charity Commissioner has served a notice upon the Managing Committee of the association to appear before it on December 13 when it hears a members petition challenging the constitutionality of the elections. The petition, filed by BCA member Mohan Karlekar, has contended that the elections are against the BCA constitution, which does not permit separate elections for the posts of office-bearers,as it is a public trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act,1950.
