In a bid to make it compatible with the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS),the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has decided to introduce latest destination control systems on its buses.
Initially,100 CNG buses will be fitted with the system to tell passengers the oncoming destination.
A meeting of the Transport Committee on Monday decided to introduce the system that was on the discussion board for some time. The voice announcement system will be complete with LED display on display boards and will come at a cost of Rs 19 lakh. At present,BRT buses have this system. The system will take around a month for installation.
In another decision,the committee has cleared the proposal to destroy tickets with old fare rates printed on them. The tickets will be destroyed in the presence of the municipal auditor, said committee chairman Pravin Patel.
