Like every year,cattle-breeders,whose livestock had been seized by the municipal corporation, were released on Sheetla Satam,a day before Janmashtami. The cattle were released absolutely free of charge, fine, maintenance charge or penalty. The annual feature, approved by the municipal corporation standing committee,is a goodwill gesture to cattle-breeders.
This year,521 cattle heads were released in four hours from morning till afternoon on Tuesday, officials in cattle nuisance control department (CNCD) said. The cattle released were seized a fortnight ago, while the cattle kept more than this period are handed over to panjrapol institutions, said Pravin Hotha,CNCD superintendent, adding that this year,618 cattle were handed over to panjrapol institutions.
The AMC charges a one-time fine of Rs 1,000 on each seized cattle-head.
