As the sun set on the last day of electioneering in poll-bound Rajasthan,BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi turned the heat on in Chief Minister Ashok Gehlots home turf in Sardarpura,Jodhpur. Even as Gehlot was out doorbelling in his home constituency,Modi drew an estimated crowd of one lakh party workers from the district that went into raptures throughout the 50-minute speech he delivered barely an hour before the campaigning deadline ended Friday.
Modi, who was campaigning for local candidates in the district, might have got the name of the BJP contestant from Sardarpura wrong several times, calling Shambhu Singh Khetasar Shambhu Nath, but the spirit was not lost and the crowd gave Khetasar an overwhelming applause.
Modi mocked and jeered at the UPA government, slamming Madam,Shehzada,Gehlot and also attacked Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Law Minister Kapil Sibal. The government is out to plunder your mangalsutra. The Finance Minister attributes inflation to buying gold. I am not as educated as him. I am here after selling tea and was born to a poor mother but I know that inflation is not because of buying gold but due to corruption.
Raising the coal block allocation scandal,Modi asked the women in the crowd,Would you lock up coal in your house? Dont you leave coal unattended outside your houses and even beggars do not steal it. But look at the UPA government. They stole coal and now they are telling the Supreme Court that the files are missing. I say the files are not missing, the government in Delhi is missing.
