FOLLOWING requests and representations from students, the state government Wednesday announced a ‘special’ third round for students who missed registration and application verification in the previous two phases of undergraduate (UG) admissions and to provide a final opportunity for admission through the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal.

Under the ‘special phase 3’, students can register between August 7 and August 10.

The admission process under special phase 3 will be conducted in two rounds starting August 13.

GCAS, the centralised online platform for public universities aimed at transparency in admissions, was launched in 2024. Based on the feedback and review of the previous year’s admission process, certain changes were made this year. However, several students still waiting for admissions have raised complaints with the authorities concerned.

Students who have received admission offers three or more times in earlier phases for any of their selected choices but have not accepted any of the offers or confirmed their admissions in earlier phases are being given a final opportunity to do so under round 1 of phase 3.

“If students do not accept the offer received in round 1 of phase 3 and fail to confirm their admission, they will not be considered for admission in subsequent rounds. Furthermore, admission cancellation will not be permitted during this phase,” the state government said in a circular.
