Accused in Jamnagar royal antiques theft case found murdered

One of the main accused in a case of theft of antique and artefacts worth Rs 1 crore from erstwhile Jamnagar princely state’s palace last year was found stabbed to death at Rajkot

One of the main accused in a case of theft of antique and artefacts worth Rs 1 crore from erstwhile Jamnagar princely state’s palace last year was found stabbed to death at Rajkot on Thursday.

Officers at the Thorala police station in Rajkot said Jagdish Solanki (35) was found murdered in Kubliyapara area with 14 wounds on his body. Preliminary investigation revealed he was stabbed to death with some sharp weapon. Postmortem report,however,is awaited.

The police also said that three days ago,the victim’s four-year-old child from first wife Shobhna Devipujak was also found murdered at Aji Dam in Rajkot. Shobhna now lives with her third husband in Kubliyapara area.

“After being released on bail in royal theft case,Solanki,who is a resident of Jamkhambhalia in Jamnagar district,was found moving in Kubliyapara area,” said the police,adding,he did not,however,have a roof over his head”. Solanki’s second wife reportedly lives in Jamnagar city.

Police said that on Thursday morning,Bachu Devipujak,a cloth merchant,found somebody asleep with a blanket covering the whole body on a pavement outside his house. When the person did not wake up till noon,he informed the police. When police came and removed the blanket,they found that the man was dead and the body bore multiple stab wounds.

“Severe wounds have been found on neck and chest area,” said the police,adding that the man could have been killed somewhere else and then dumped at Kubaliyapara.
