ACB raids houses of cop held for graft

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths raided the houses of a city police inspector in Ahmedabad and Banaskantha district on Tuesday,a day after he was reportedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from an alleged victim of sexual abuse and fraud.

Senior inspector M A Rathod was arrested last night from Naranpura police station,where he was posted.

According to sources,Rathod had been demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a woman complainant who was allegedly sexually abused by a man from Ahmedabad. The complainants father reported this matter to one of his friends,who in turn alerted ACB,which then laid a trap.

According to inspector D H Desai,who is investigating the case,nothing in the form of disproportionate assets was found during searches at Rathods houses.

The inspector has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
