AAP’s victory in Visavadar a glimpse of mood of Gujarat: Arvind Kejriwal
Kejriwal’s three-day visit to the state comes amid local leader Gopal Italia’s recent bypoll victory in the Visavadar assembly constituency and resignation of party’s Botad MLA Umesh Makwana from all the posts last week.

The Aam Aadmi Party’s victory in Visavadar bypoll is an indication of the mood of the people of Gujarat, said party’s national convenor and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal after landing in Gujarat on Tuesday.
Kejriwal’s three-day visit to the state comes amid local leader Gopal Italia’s recent bypoll victory in the Visavadar assembly constituency and resignation of party’s Botad MLA Umesh Makwana from all the posts last week.
Speaking to the reporters after landing in Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Kejriwal, however, focused only on his party’s victory in Visavadar.
“AAP’s massive victory in the Visavadar bypolls and the way the people of Visavadar badly routed the BJP… shows the mood of the entire Gujarat. The people of Gujarat feel sad and harassed by the BJP, and they want change,” Kejriwal said while speaking to the reporters at the airport.
“The bypoll in Visavadar wasn’t just for an assembly seat… it is an indication of the mood of the people of Gujarat,” he said.
Kejriwal added, “This (Visavadar victory) was the semi final for the upcoming assembly elections of 2027. The BJP has only ruled Gujarat for the last 30 years because the people did not have any other alternative. Congress was sitting in the lap of the BJP. The only thing Congress does is help BJP win in Gujarat.” He added, “But now the people of Gujarat have an alternative, and it’s a good alternative, an honest and a patriotic alternative. The people of Gujarat are determined to bring AAP to power.”
