By-elections for the Kadi and Visavadar assembly constituencies are scheduled on June 19.

The Aam Aadmi Party, on Friday, announced Jagdish Chavda as its candidate for the by-election of Kadi assembly constituency of Gujarat’s Mehsana district. A young face, Chavda is the chairman of the Gujarat AAP’s Scheduled Caste wing. The Kadi constituency seat is reserved for Scheduled Caste communities.
The announcement was made by state party president Isudan Gadhvi.
In a statement, Gadhvi said, “The national and state leadership have decided to announce young and fighting face Jagdish Chavda as its candidate for the Kadi assembly constituency. He has raised the voices of all the communities not only in Kadi but across the state. He is also the state president of AAP’s Scheduled Caste wing. I am confident that Jagdishbhai and the entire team of AAP will fight the election strongly and win.”
The by-elections of Kadi and Visavadar assembly constituencies are scheduled on June 19.
While Kadi constituency fell vacant after the demise of sitting BJP MLA Karshan Solanki, the Visavadar constituency in Saurashtra fell vacant following the resignation of sitting AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayani, who later joined the BJP.
The AAP has already appointed its senior state leader Gopal Italia as party candidate for the Visavadar constituency. Meanwhile, the Congress and BJP are yet to announce their candidates for the two seats.
