The Special Investigation Team (SIT),probing some of the 2002 riot cases, has questioned three lawyers in connection with a complaint filed against them by some victims.
Sources in the SIT said on Monday that advocates H N Dhruv,P L Gandhi and V P Atre were quizzed on Saturday. Their questioning was based on allegations levelled by some riot victims and a social activist that these lawyers had close proximity to the government.
Dhruv was initially appointed as special public prosecutor in the Godhra train burning case, while Atre was made public prosecutor in the Naroda Patia and Gulberg Society case. Gandhi was the chief government pleader in the Godhra Sessions Court in Panchmahals district.
Some of the victims and activist Teesta Setalvad had complained against the lawyers to the SIT after their names were suggested for appointment as PP.
