The deceased in Wednesday's accident were identified as Dilip Dahiya and Manoj Kumar.Two persons were killed and two others injured in an accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Thursday when a car rammed into the rear of a moving truck near Lakshmipura village. This is the second such incident within a span of two days.
The four occupants of the car, bearing a Surat-registration number were travelling to Ahmedabad when the accident occurred due to changing lanes and overtaking, a survivor said.
The deceased have been identified as Mehul Galani (27) and Ashwin Patel (48) while the survivors are Prashant Gamecha and Umesh Virani – all residents of Surat. Virani, who escaped with injuries said, “The truck had changed lanes while our car was overtaking another truck, which is when the collision happened.”
While Galani and Patel were killed on the spot as they were seated in the front of the car, Virani and Gamecha miraculously escaped. Incidentally, the incident occurred just 20 kilometers away from Saraswani village on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, where two persons were killed and three others injured on Wednesday when a speeding car ran over five road maintenance workers. The accused driver of the car, Maulik Zaveri, who is a practicing doctor in Ankleshwar, was booked for rash and negligent driving. According to the police, Zaveri said he lost control of his vehicle while on his way to Bharuch.
