16% rise in enrolment of girls at higher secondary level, 11% in science stream within a year of launch of two govt schemes

So far, over 13 lakh students from Gujarat have received financial assistance of over Rs 594.98 crore under these four schemes at various academic stages.
Since the launch of Namo Lakshmi Yojana, aimed at reducing dropout rates among girls in Classes 9 to 12, in 2024, the scheme has led to a rise in the number of girls regularly attending classes, along with a 16 per cent increase in admissions of girls, at the higher secondary level.
The Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana, within a year of its launch in 2024, has also encouraged more students to opt for science stream, resulting in an 11 per cent rise in such admissions, the state government said on Tuesday.
The state government on Tuesday also transferred Rs 724 crore in assistance directly to the bank accounts of over 13 lakh school students across Gujarat under four major education schemes — Namo Lakshmi Yojana, Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana, Mukhyamantri Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Gyan Setu Merit Scholarship Yojana.
Namo Lakshmi Yojana provides annual assistance of Rs 10,000 to female students in Classes 9 and 10, Rs 15,000 for those in Classes 11 and 12. Rs 600 crore was disbursed by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel through DBT to 10.83 lakh girl students covered under this initiative.
The Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana provides financial assistance of Rs 25,000 over two years to students opting for science stream. On Thursday, under this scheme, the CM transferred Rs 52 crore directly into the bank accounts of around 1.53 lakh students through DBT.
Under the Mukhyamantri Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Yojana, scholarships are awarded to 25,000 students from government or grant-aided primary schools (under RTE) from Class 1 till 8. Under this scheme, on Tuesday, scholarships worth over Rs 41 crore were distributed to 50,000 students.
Under Mukhyamantri Gyan Setu Merit Scholarship Yojana, scholarships worth over Rs 31 crore to 60,000 students are covered.
So far, over 13 lakh students from Gujarat have received financial assistance of over Rs 594.98 crore under these four schemes at various academic stages.
The total assistance provided by the state education department under these four schemes stands at Rs 1,318.98 crore.
