A formal complaint has been filed with the office of the DTP Regulatory Branch, GMADA (Greater Mohali Area Development Authority), demanding the immediate demolition of an illegal structure and display board constructed within Preet City, Sector 86, Mohali.
The complaint, dated July 29, 2025, points out that a two-room unauthorised structure and a display board have been erected directly opposite Gate No. 5 of Wave Estate. The structure lies on the dividing road between sectors 85 and 86 — a busy stretch known for high vehicular movement and frequent accidents.
Terming the encroachment a serious threat to public safety, the complaint emphasises that such illegal constructions at critical junctions increase the risk to commuters. “This construction is a safety hazard. The location is already accident-prone, and such encroachments only increase the danger,” the letter stated.
Local residents and stakeholders have collectively appealed to GMADA to act without delay. The letter urges the OTP regulatory wing to ensure the removal of both the illegal structure and the display board to uphold urban development norms and protect commuters.
When contacted, GMADA chief administrator Vishesh Sarangal said, “We will take action as per law. No one will be spared.”
