(File Photo)India’s Wholesale Price Inflation: The government data released on Monday indicated that wholesale price inflation slightly increased to 2.38 per cent in February, driven by rising costs of manufactured food items, including vegetable oils and beverages.
In comparison, the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation stood 2.31 per cent in January and it recorded 0.2 per cent in February 2024. This positive inflation rate in February 2025 is primarily attributed to the price increases in the manufacturing of food products, food articles, non-food articles, and textiles, according to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

In contrast, vegetable prices saw a decline, with potato prices dropping to 27.54 per cent from 74.28 per cent in the previous month. The fuel and power sector experienced a deflation of 0.71 per cent in February, compared to a deflation of 2.78 per cent in January.
Meanwhile, the retail inflation data released on Wednesday showed that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation eased to a seven-month low of 3.61 per cent in February, thanks to falling food prices.
