Domestic markets ended in red on Wednesday ahead of India's and US CPI inflation data due today. BSE benchmark Sensex slipped 223.94 points, or 0.34 per cent to 65,393.90, while broader NSE Nifty50 dropped 55.10 points, or 0.28 per cent to 19,384.30. Broader market indices held the ground, as Nifty Smallcap 50 climbed 0.91 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 100 ended 0.76 per cent higher, followed by Nifty Smallcap 250 and Nifty Midsmallcap 400 rose 0.49 per cent. Sectorally, the Nifty PSU Bank climbed 0.83 per cent, Nifty Media soared 0.47 per cent, Nifty Pharma gained 0.30 per cent, and the realty index jumped 0.26 per cent. Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, UltraTech Cement, Infosys, Adani Ports, BPCL, NTPC, and Hero MotoCorp were the worst drag in the Nifty index. ONGC, Eicher Motors, Nestle India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI Life, Dr Reddy, Sun Pharma, Titan, JSW Steel were the top gainers today. Delta Corp Ltd sunk 23 per cent today, after the government on Tuesday said that online gaming will attract 28 per cent GST. HDFC twins were the top drags in the Sensex heatmap as today was the last day to trade HDFC's stock. The stock will be delisted from bourses on Thursday, and HDFC will trade under HDFC Bank post the two companies' merger.
