Apple Inc. has announced a major leadership change, naming India-born Sabih Khan as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Khan will succeed longtime executive Jeff Williams later this month, as part of a planned succession strategy under CEO Tim Cook.
Khan, currently Senior Vice President of Operations, has been with Apple since 1995 and is widely credited with transforming the company’s global supply chain. Since 2019, he has led Apple’s operations team, overseeing manufacturing, supplier responsibility, and environmental sustainability initiatives across the globe. As COO, Khan will be number two in the tech firm below Tim Cook.
Sabih has played an important role in delivering each of Apple’s innovative products to market. Prior to Apple, Sabih worked as an applications development engineer and key account technical leader at GE Plastics.
Khan’s promotion marks a significant milestone in Apple’s leadership evolution. His deep operational expertise and long tenure within the company make him a natural successor to Williams, who will retire after nearly three decades of service. Appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2015, Jeff Williams expanded Apple’s global operations while also spearheading the development of the Apple Watch and laying the foundation for the company’s growing focus on health technologies.
Apple, headquartered in Cupertino, California, is a global technology powerhouse known for its flagship products, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods. It has a market capitalisation of around $3.28 trillion.
Founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne, Apple has grown into one of the most valuable and influential companies in the world. It is listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol AAPL and continues to shape the consumer electronics and digital services landscape.
