Trimula, Mandakini bag coal blocks in Jharkhand

The mine, which was earlier allotted to Abhijeet Infrastructure Pvt Ltd has extractable reserves of 12.67 million tonnes.

Trimula Industries won the bid for Meral coal block in Jharkhand, while the Mandakini mine has been bagged by Mandakini Exploration and Mining on the second day of auction of coal blocks being offered on Thursday.

“Meral coal block closes at Rs 727 (per tonne),” coal secretary Anil Swarup tweeted. Trimula Industries outbid Eastern Range Coal Mining Pvt Ltd and Usha Martin Ltd.

The mine, which was earlier allotted to Abhijeet Infrastructure Pvt Ltd has extractable reserves of 12.67 million tonnes.

Mandakini Exploration and Mining Ltd had bid the highest at Rs 650 a tonne for the Mandakini mine, Swarup tweeted. The company outbid firms like Adani Power, Adani Power Maharashtra, GMR Mining and Energy, Jindal Power and Wigeon Commotrade. On Saturday, three blocks — Tara (for power sector) and Nerad Malegaon and Dumri mines (for non-power sector) would be on offer.

The firms vying for Tara mine in Chhattisgarh are Adani Power, Adani Power Rajasthan, Adani Power Maharashtra, Athena Chhattisgarh Power, Jindal Power, JSW Energy, KSK Mahanadi Power, Lanco Amarkantak Power and RattanIndia Nasik Power. Tara mine was earlier alloted to Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corp Ltd.
