The new Swift DZire comes with a raft of upgrades both on the inside and out.Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Swift DZire in the country at a starting price of Rs 5.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Swift DZire comes with a raft of upgrades both on the inside and out. Maruti claims the new DZire is the most fuel efficient car in India with an ARAI certified mileage of 26.69 km/l (diesel). Customers get to choose from a total of 8 trim variants in petrol and diesel fuel options.
Like the Swift face-lift launched recently, the refreshed Swift DZire receives minor yet noticeable design updates along with additional equipment on the inside. The front fascia of the new model dons a thick chrome grille, new bumper, smoked headlamps, chrome fog lamp housing and new design alloy wheels. The ORVMs are now electronically foldable and house turn indicators. Customers will get a choice of 7 colors (4 of which are new) to choose from, namely- Alp Blue, Cave Black, Magma Grey, Sangria Red, Pearl Arctic White, Silky Silver, and Prime Pacific Blue.
Similarly, the interiors on the new model have been revamped as well. The new DZire comes with additional features such as an engine start/stop push button, front and rear accessory socket, steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls and electromagnetic boot-lid operation. The new Swift DZire also comes equipped with reverse parking sensors.
Powertrain of the Swift DZire remains unchanged on the new model. The diesel variants of the DZire are powered by the acclaimed Fiat-derived 1,248cc diesel engine that develops 75PS of power at 4,000rpm along with a peak-torque of 190Nm at 2,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and no automatic transmission is available on diesel variants of the car. The engine is claimed to return an impressive fuel economy of 26.69km/l – 13 per cent improvement over the previous version. This is also the highest among all diesel or petrol powered cars in the country.

Petrol powered Swift DZire variants come with the company’s 1,197cc K-series VVT engine that delivers a maximum power of 84.3PS at 6,000rpm and a torque of 115Nm at 4,000rpm. The petrol comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while an automatic transmission is also offered. The petrol version of the car returns 20.85 kilometers to a litre of fuel, which is up by 9 per cent as compared to the older car.
Commenting on the introduction of the new DZire R.S. Kalsi, Executive Director Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Taking forward our efforts to refresh our existing models, we present new DZire as India’s most fuel efficient car returning fuel efficiency of 26.59kmpl. The rich equipment list on the refreshed Dzire that includes premium features like engine push start / stop system, reverse parking sensors, new motion alloy wheels and Bluetooth with audio etc will be valued by the customers.”
The Swift DZire has been the bestseller in the entry-level compact sedan segment since time immemorial. The company has sold over 9.12 lakh units of the car till now and in the last three years the DZire has constantly been among the top three selling cars in the country. While the Swift DZire is already a mass-favorite, the face-lift will only help fuel up the demand of the car even further. Competition of the Swift DZire include cars like the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest.
