Delhi NCR Schools Holiday News: During winters, the Delhi-NCR region enforces restrictions under GRAP, which categorises air quality into four stages – Stage 1 (Poor, AQI 201-300), Stage 2 (Very Poor, AQI 301-400), Stage 3 (Severe, AQI 401-450), and Stage 4 (Severe Plus, AQI above 450). Stage 4 curbs include a mandatory shifting of school classes, except for classes 10 and 12, to hybrid mode.

Haldwani/ Moradabad, Jan 21 (ANI): Cold wave conditions prevailed over most parts of the hilly regions in Northern India affecting the daily chores of the people. Local residents and school going children are finding it hard to cope with the bone chilling cold. Cold wave with dense fog affected normal life and made visibility poor. The locals said cold wave conditions intensified over the next few days. Meanwhile Moradabad saw dense fog conditions which saw trains running late.

Shimla, Jan 20 (ANI): The higher reaches in Shimla received fresh snowfall on Wednesday, intensifying the present cold wave in the state. The region had a clear day in morning but thick clouds overcast the sky and icy winds swept the region as the day advanced. The chilly wind has also increased misery of people of in the hill state.

Shimla, Jan 10 (ANI): Cold wave conditions prevailed over most parts of hilly region affecting normal lives of people in Shimla. Local residents and workers in Shimla were seen gathered around bonfires on Sunday to find respite from bone chilling cold. Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of minus two degrees Celsius on Sunday. The picture was no different at Rajouri town in Jammu and Kashmir which recorded a minimum temperature of three degrees Celsius on Sunday. People were seen dressed in woolen garments to prevent the chilling bite of the cold.

Shimla, Jan 09 (ANI): The shrill cold wave induced by fresh snowfall and sporadic rain made a comeback to Himachal Pradesh after a brief respite on Saturday, causing the mercury to dip. People in hill town of Dharamsala stepped out covered in layers of woolens as a shield against the cold, after a night long sporadic rainfall. Men sat around bonfires to keep themselves warm.The rain showers caused the mercury to hover around 6 degrees Celsius. A heavily overcast sky kept the sun away and icy winds made it difficult for people to go about their daily routine. A resident, Ram Prakash, said the sudden fall in temperature took residents by surprise. Himachal Pradesh’s capital city Shimla too reeled under cold wave conditions after the city received mild snowfall and temperatures plummeted to sub-zero level. People struggled to step out of their houses and get to work. A resident, Krishna, said it was particularly cold in the mornings and evenings. Roads covered with sleet disrupted traffic movement in city as they became slippery. Every year as the cold wave tightens its grip, the homeless are the worst hit as they often either sleeps in open or under thin tarpaulin sheets.
