Two more held for illegal explosives sale

Two more persons were arrested from Randhikpur under the Limkheda police station on Tuesday in connection with the illegal sale of explosives,primarily meant for well-digging work under the NREGS.

Two more persons were arrested from Randhikpur under the Limkheda police station on Tuesday in connection with the illegal sale of explosives,primarily meant for well-digging work under the NREGS.

The number of persons arrested in connection with this illegal trade in the last one year has now touched 22.

The Dahod Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested Jaisinh Ratna Vanzara and Chatur Narsinh Katara and seized one tractor full of 150 gelatin sticks and 120 detonators,said LCB Inspector A B Damor.

“Jaisinh is the brother of the wanted explosive supplier,Badri Ratan Vanzara,who is from Bhilwada in Rajasthan,” he said.

As many as seven cases of illegal explosives smuggling have been registered in the past one year. The 22 arrested mostly belong to Dahod district in Gujarat and Bhilwada in Rajasthan.

Superintendent of Police Vipul Aggarwal said: “The numbers have increased over the last one year as most of the arrested persons have said that the explosives were meant for well-digging work under NREGS.”

Dahod LCB has recovered explosives,equipment such as drillers,compressors and wires,and tractors worth Rs 28 lakh. Dahod LCB officers believe the recent bust on Tuesday points to the kingpin of the trade,Badri Ratan Vanzara.

Meanwhile,one Kishoresinh Chitroda; Ashok Parmar,BJP sarpanch from Dahod; B M Patel,who had an explosive supplying agency running from Halol in Panchmahals district; and Dilipsinh Thakore,a resident Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh have been declared wanted in the case.
