OnePlus 3 will be available invite free; launch confirmed for June 14

OnePlus will finally say goodbye to invite system and make its OnePlus 3 available to everyone from day one

OnePlus, the Chinese technology startup has confirmed the launch date for its next flagship killer (or whatever they call it). The smartphone will launch globally on June 14 and will be invite free.

Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder, has confirmed that the company will be ditching invite system for its next flagship. OnePlus had been using invite system since the launch of its first smartphone, OnePlus One, to keep inventories under control.

“We’re releasing the OnePlus 3 invite-free, right from launch day. In addition, invites are gone forever from future OnePlus product launches,” notes Carl Pei in his post for OnePlus forums.

OnePlus wil also see VR launch like its predecessor. “With the OnePlus 3, we’re upping the ante. We believe we, and the tech industry as a whole, have only scratched the surface of what can be done in VR, and there’s much more immersive experiences to be had. Inspired by a certain fan video, we took to our imagination of where OnePlus would be decades from now, having moved our headquarters to space. Our space station is called The Loop, and we’re excited for you to check it out,” Carl Pei of OnePlus said in a blog post.

For readers curious about the specifications, OnePlus 3 will feature metal unibody design and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD display and will have 4GB RAM.
