Murder case against 11 cops 4 years after tribal girl’s death in Chhattisgarh

Refuting the state police and the home department, the judicial commission recently came out with its report and said that she was not a Maoist and was killed in a fake encounter. The report, however, was silent on the alleged gangrape. The policemen against whom the case has been lodged now were present at the Chando station that night. They were suspended some months after the incident, only to be reinstated later.

While her relatives had claimed gangrape and murder, then state Home Minister Nanki Ram Kanwar had cited the postmortem report and said she had “relations with truck drivers”. “They first raped my daughter, then killed her and now call her charkati (slut). It hurts the most,” her father had then told The Indian Express.
