Mahesh Chand Thakur, who was driving Hema’s car when it met with the accident, has been arrested at Kotwali Thana.
An FIR was lodged against the driver, who hails from Vrindavan, under various sections of IPC including 279 (rash driving) and 304 (A) (causing death by negligence not amounting to culpable homicide).
Thakaur was on Friday produced before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Pallavi Sharma who granted bail to the driver. He was later released on bail. The actor was taken to Mumbai by a chartered plane.
She was accompanied by her daughter Esha Deol and her husband Bharat Takhtani.
The family had alleged indifference on Hema’s part, claiming their daughter could have been saved had the actor taken her along to Jaipur.
However, defending her mother, Esha said the actor was in a shock after the accident and could not have thought of checking up on the other injured.
