Urban Development Ministry cancels allotment of four properties to Congress

The party was allotted land on Rouse Avenue to construct its headquarters, but it never shifted there.

The Urban Development Ministry has cancelled the allotment of four prime properties occupied by the Congress party, including the party headquarters on 24, Akbar Road. The Congress can continue to occupy the bungalows, but they will have to pay extra license fee. The party was allotted land on Rouse Avenue to construct its headquarters, but it never shifted there and the ministry in January served a notice, asking them to pay extra license fee till it happens.

“As per the policy on Allotment of Land to Political Parties for building their own party offices, Congress Party was required to vacate four bungalows that are in their possession at 24, Akbar Road; 25, Akbar Road; 5, Raisina Road and C-II/109, Chanakyapuri in June, 2013. It is because, Congress was handed over possession of land at 9-A, Rouse Avenue in June, 2010  and as per the policy, the Party was required to vacate the four bungalows with in three years i.e June, 2013, which was not done,”  a the statement said.
