Map shows Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan as part of India at event attended by VP Hamid Ansari in Morocco

The 'expanded' Indian map was covered with white tape after Indian officials intervened.

In a major goof-up, the hoarding outside Mohammed V University of Rabat, Morocco welcoming Vice President Hamid Ansari showed a British era map of India with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh as a part of the country.

Indian officials accompanying VP Ansari took notice of it and raised objection after which the ‘expanded’ map was covered with a white tape.

VP Ansari is on a five-day visit to Morocco and Tunisia and had gone to the University to deliver a speech on the topic ‘accommodating diversity in a globalizing world – the Indian experience’. He was also felicitated with degree Honoris Causa by the University.

Ansari is leading a delegation to Morocco until June 1 at the invitation of the country’s Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane. In the second leg of his tour, Ansari will travel to Tunisia from June 2 to 3 and hold discussions with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and PM Habib Essid.
