By: Lokniti Team

This analysis is based on a post-poll survey conducted by Lokniti, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies in Bihar. The survey was conducted among 3,946 respondents (the final sample) in 240 locations spread across 60 assembly constituencies. The constituencies were randomly selected using the Probability Proportionate to Size method. Thereafter, four polling stations within each of the sampled constituencies were selected using the Systematic Random Sampling method. Finally, the respondents were randomly selected using the same method from the latest electoral rolls of the sampled polling stations.

Fieldwork was conducted after voting ended in each phase. Trained field investigators asked respondents a set of detailed questions in a face-to-face interview lasting 20-25 minutes. The achieved sample largely matches with the demographic profile of Bihar. The data file used for analysis was weighted by the actual voteshare secured by the major parties.
