A resident of Surat in Gujarat has invited trouble by wrapping his Labrador in the tricolor on January 26 and taking it out for a march. The incident took place at Athwalines area in the city and later a complaint was filed against him.
An FIR under Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, has been registered against Bharat Gohil at the Umra police station on a complaint by Aziz Cyclewala, a resident of Chowkbazar area in Surat.
The act prohibits desecration or insult to country’s national symbols, including National Anthem, Constitution and National Flag. If found guilty, a person can face imprisonment of upto three years or fine as per the act.
