Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks came after a report prepared by forensic lab in Mathura concluded that the meat found in the victim’s house was beef.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Wednesday questioned the authenticity of a report issued by a forensic lab in Mathura, which stated that the meat recovered from the spot of the Dadri lynching belonged to a “cow or its progeny”.
He also said nothing objectionable had been found at the house of Mohammad Akhlaq, who was beaten to death following rumours of cow slaughter and beef consumption on September 28 last year.
“Where was the sample sent, who received it? There was nothing objectionable in his house. Every eye is on this matter. Everyone wants that the victim’s family should get justice as a murder has taken place,” Yadav said.
“After this incident, there was debate in the world regarding what to eat and speak. I think one should not get involved in such matters,” he said on the sidelines of an event in Ambedkar Nagar.

BJP MP Adityanath and BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya, meanwhile, demanded that a case of cow slaughter be registered against Akhlaq’s family.
“They are quiet on this report. The innocent Hindus arrested in the matter should be immediately released and a case of cow slaughter should be registered against Akhlaq’s family,” Adityanath said in Gorakhpur. “I also demand that the state government withdraw all facilities given to his family.”
Maurya said the report has exposed leaders of the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, who were doing “propaganda” over the issue to divert attention of the people from the good work being done by the NDA government at the Centre.

BJP MP Adityanath and BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya, meanwhile, demanded that a case of cow slaughter be registered against Akhlaq’s family.
Union Minister Sanjeev Baliyan, too, attacked the CM, saying it was “really unfortunate” that Yadav was questioning the authenticity of a report since he wants to “politically satisfy” a particular constituency.
BJP MLA Sangeet Som also attacked the CM over the findings of the report.
Earlier, a preliminary report dated September 29, 2015, issued by the veterinary doctor at the Government Veterinary Hospital, Dadri, had stated that prima-facie, “this meat belongs to goat progeny”. It had, however, asked the administration to take the samples to the forensic lab in Mathura “for final and confirm diagnosis”.-With PTI
