VETERAN CPM leader V S Achuthanandan on Sunday said that he would oppose the plea seeking quashing of the FIR filed against SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan in a corruption case.
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) had recently registered a case against Natesan and four others on the basis of complaints filed by Achuthanandan in connection with the alleged misappropriation of funds by the SNDP Yogam from the micro-finance schemes meant for Ezhava community.
“I have decided to implead as a respondent to oppose the petition filed by Natesan seeking quashing of the FIR in the corruption case,” said Achuthanandan, who is the chairman of the state administrative reforms panel.
“Natesan is the first accused in the case pertaining to cheating of poor women from the backward community. His gimmicks to maneuver the probe would not succeed. The present government should be vigilant against the bid to torpedo the case,’’ he added.
Achuthanandan’s decision to implead in the case comes two days after Natesan met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and lauded him as a powerful chief minister. Natesan also exuded confidence that he would remain unhurt in the probe.
