Minister for social justice Shivajirao Moghe on Monday announced the setting up of an online system for issuance and verification of caste certificates,by August end. This comes as a major relief for students, government servants and politicians who require certificates for school admissions, colleges and contesting elections under the reserved quota. A validated caste certificate is also required by members of the backward communities to avail themselves of benefits of government schemes. The social justice office will hire personnel on contract for the purpose. They will be responsible for receiving, processing and verifying documents needed for the caste certificate and for issuing the certificates. Citizens will have to apply online and furnish scanned copies of the documents, said Moghe. The certificates will be issued after documents are verified by officials. If the officals raise any doubts, the person concerned will be asked to visit the designated office with the original documents for verification, said Moghe.
