Skill development a step towards empowerment of women, says CM

The programme titled ‘Skill Sakhi’ is a part of the government’s mission to undertake skill development training as a big step towards empowerment of women in diverse fields. Fielding questions from young women participants, Fadnavis said, “Today, skill development holds the key to your future success.”

Replying to a question as to why women even after graduation remain unemployed, he said, “Today, you have to reconcile to the changing scenario. Gone are the days when one would make an application to get a government job with an assured post-retirement pension. Today, specialisation with skill development has immense opportunities all over the world.”

Citing the example of Philippines, he said, “Their emphasis on skill development has ensured best training for nurses and their demand across the world.”

“While preparing your career roadmap, you should simultaneously adopt skill training in the field of your interest. Those with skills have greater demand in the market,” he added.

“To me, India’s vast population is not a liability. To the contrary, it is an advantage as there is a huge pool of young people with an average age of 29 years,” he said.

“The demographic advantage has already given us a lead over others and we need to further consolidate the gains through development of our human resources through skill training,” he added.
