The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to transfer the helipad and the state of art VIP guesthouse, part of the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan, to the Civil Aviation Department.
The helipad, the ground surrounding helipad, the guesthouse, the watchtowers – all spread over seven acres and with investment of over Rs 20 crore near the airport – was built in 2012 as the extensions of the 51-acre Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan, one of the several memorials built during the previous Mayawati regime.
The helipad was built for VVIPs, who would hold rallies at the ground. The property would continue to be maintained and managed by the UP Estate Department and the state PWD.
